“This Is It”

My wife and I went to the Michael Jackson “This is It” movie and enjoyed it greatly.   Though I’m not an MJ fan per say I doubt there is anyone who doesn’t like moving their feet to his good old pop songs like “Billy Jean”.   The music sounded great in the theater I was in.    I was disappointed in that there were very few close up shots of keyboardists in action.   I believe the band’s goal was to replicate the song track as close as possible to the original recording.   I heard a lot of strings playing on the synths and some awesome bass lines.

The film was mainly clips of MJ rehearsals of songs for the “This Is It” concert and many of them had hot dance routines going on at the same time.   They even had special green screen video  shot and special stage outfits made. It’s really terrible that the show never made it to a full dress rehersal as that would have been just spectacular.   The film really showed what made the man MJ respected in music circles.   At age 50 he could still sing and dance with the best of them.
