Harmony-M vocal effects box

This little vocal effects box came up on EBAY for auction and I could not resist. After reading FAQ pages on the support site I found I should update it with the latest software. Well that meant buying an M-Audio Uno USB to Midi cable and installing a freeware program called MIDI-OX to download version 1.1 build 18 of the program into the device. It took a few tries but was well worth the effort to update as the sound from it was much improved with the latest software in it.
The M in the Harmony-M stands for MIDI. Now what’s neat about this guy is it recognizes the chords on the keyboard you are playing and harmonizes your voice with them. To make that work you run a MIDI cable from the MIDI out port on your keyboard to the MIDI in port on the Harmony-M. You can set which MIDI channel to read on the Harmony-M, the default is 1. On my Juno-Stage keyboard when setting up parts in a “Performance Mode” I need to place the part I’ll be playing chords at in Part 1 which is MIDI channel 1.
Besides doing two or three part harmony there also is what they call “Manual” mode where you play a chord and it just does a vocoder thing to your voice.
Here is a demo of me using the Harmony-M.
Though the unit has foot switches on it I can’t see putting it on the floor. They make a nice remote foot switch and I plan to order that if this works out as something I want to use. I also needed a midi cable from my keyboard to the device plus another short 1/4 cable from the device back to my mixer. So now you see how equipment and cords seems to just multiply. Buy one device and you’ll need like 3 more cords along with another power plug to plug it in.
